To me the album was an instant favorite once played: This is modern progressive big band at its very best! Fluent, driven and playful all the way giving you a full-throttle big band experience contrasted with a laid back clubbing attitude. The very tight playing band easily delivers on the arrangements that are layered, complex and rich in subtle details.Sadly very few big bands have both courage and opportunity to explore new frontiers like this. Luckily Mark de Clive-Lowe and the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra did and the album proves that big bands have a future way beyond just repeating the past.
