I used the tusk heaters to repair the grip assemblies on my BMW R1200 GS. Shame on me, I ruined the factory heating grids while trying to replace the worn rubber grips. Unfortunately, the BMW rubber is vulcanized to the grip tubes with the grids sandwiched in between. In my ham-fistedness, I damaged the factory grids. My solution was to solder and graft the Tusk grids into the factory wiring connectors. I then put a layer of vinyl tape to give the heating grids a little support. Finally, I installed my new grips over the top. The result? Good as new grip heat, controlled by the factory switchgear. There were some mixed reviews on these heaters, mainly regarding users having detached the wiring from the grid during install. I think the key to success here is for the user to tread lightly, as the heating grids are delicate. Install them carefully, then reinforce, either with tape or zip-ties. Finally, install your grips with care over the top! This kit saved me about four hundred dollars from Bring More Wallet!!! I will be buying more for my daughter's CB 300F.
