I have a 325 Sq. Ft. hobby room. I have been using a heat pump for heating, but didn't like the resulting electric bill. It is well insulated in both wall and floor. I happen to be one of those guys that never throws anything away because "I might need it someday", so I have shelves full of stuff laying around for when I get those occasional bright ideas. I coupled the Amaze unit with my six solar panels that I had no investment in, and used salvaged chargers and inverters to run the heater. It works fine! I need to always keep heat in my room because of plants, guitars and recording gear. It is currently 40 degrees outside and a comfy 65 degrees here in the room. At 3.3 amps and 400 watts, it is much more efficient than the 120vac 11 amp heat pump. I know this isn't going to be the usual setup for the world in general, but as a mission specific installation, I'm very happy with this unit. It does have a smell to it for the first 24 hours or so. Maybe epoxy kind of smell. It has largely gone away. I don't need the room to be 70 degrees, just warm enough to keep my plants and equipment from suffering 24/7. I can always use the heat pump if it gets too cold here in Michigan.
