I got this jacket at a 50% discount as it appears it's being discontinued by Columbia. Honestly, I'd be wary of buying this at full price. That being said, it was precisely what I was after, I was annoyed that most of these types of jackets are thigh-length ski jackets, and wanted something shorter and lighter for all-season wear. The Heater-Change is a shorter lightweight Omni-Tech jacket with Omni-Heat interior. Though not officially "packable" it stores very small. The hood is removable, the collar is nice and tall, it has pit-zips, and accepts Interchange liners (if you can find one). The material is a tad thin, but that's ok, and is on par with similar jackets I have. Don't expect miracles from the Omni-heat, it is slightly warmer, but not in an insulating way and I'm afraid it'll actually be too warm for heavy activity, though the pit zips will help. After a lot of searching, I did manage to find a discontinued interchange liner as well to extend this jacket's use into the winter; with a combined total of about one twenty, it's a pretty good deal for this tech.My main concern with this jacket is the zipper. It's tiny, like you'd find on a cheap no name windbreaker. Even the pockets have heavier zippers. I hope this doesn't become an issue in the winter. One last note, I got the "black". The picture isn't quite true as it looks almost purple, though it does look different depending on the lighting. In person it's more of a slate blue and the pattern gives it some character without being obnoxious.
